Default House sales fall 11.5% in Spain

Thursday, June 14, 2007

The number of Spanish property sales in the first quarter of this year fell compared to the same period last year according to figures taken from the Land Register. Over the last 12 months there have been 893,000 houses or flats purchased which mean that house sales have fallen 11.5% in just one year.

The drop in house sales has been more acute for new properties and has fallen almost 16% while sales of used housing have fallen by only 8%. These figures confirm the slow down in the property market.

In the first quarter of 2007 232,000 houses or flats were purchased according to the Land Register. However, this figure is almost 23,000 less compared to the same period last year which works out at 9% less.

Figures vary according to different parts of Spain. Over the last 12 months house sales dropped by 20% in Aragón and by 18% in Galicia. In Catalunya there was a drop of 15%, almost 14% in Madrid, 13% in Valencia and 7.5% In Andalucia.
Out of all house sales in Spain for the first quarter of this year 58% were for used housing while 42% was for new housing.

Interesting...
Here in US, there have been several factors contributed to the housing slump. Not sure what happened in Europe? Global housing crisis?

Amazingly how this world has become smaller since we can travel across the globe and do business in a global scale.

Global economy does impact the countries that trade among each other. U.S. housing is also in decline!!

Let's just hope the global economy doesn't tank. I wasn't around in the 1930s, but I do recall that the last globe-wide Depression was a big factor in the start of World War II.

In the center of the historical town of Binissalem this 130year old townhouse has been completely reformed in 2006 to the highest standard. Just traditional materials have been used to give this house a unique character. The house is located in a very quite area of the town and just 5 min. away from the market place and train station. If you are looking for a pleasant and tranquile place to spend your holidays or more, this is the perfect house for you. Due to the real estate agent, spanish property and investment property spain .

Before you think about Starting a New Life in Spain or Investment property spain, make sure you check the areas around together with friends or local property agents. Make sure you have already spent some time not just in summer around Spain for example Tenerife, so you know the place from both sides of the coin during summer and during winter time.
Some practical spanish property buyer tips The Costa del Sol is continuously evolving and its development over recent years has been focused on the health and luxury markets and the joy of spending time on the Costa Del Sol has a lot to do with the fact it is hot six months of the year and warm the other six. It is not surprising people still flock here from all corners of the globe, each year hundreds of thousands of tourists come here to enjoy the multitude of benefits that the Costa del Sol already has to offer and make it their second home.
